When I was hiking, I overheard a girl talking. “My whole life, I’ve been looking forward to something. Looking forward to fall break, spring break, summer vacation. Looking forward to school being over, and then when those times would come, I would look forward to something else. I never lived in the moment.”
How many times do we live like that? School starts next week, and this is my last week of summer and my last week of full-time work. I can look forward to school, or I could even look forward to the next vacation that I have. A lot of me is tempted to do so, but I have to remember to enjoy the moments I have been given. The time when you enjoy the present is the only time you fully live.
